30 hours in the City of Kings

Lima, Peru. Gateway to Macchu Pichu and ancients ruins in the Andes. 30 hours in this South American city gave me a brief yet concise overview of the city of Kings. The Miraflores section facing the beautiful Pacific Ocean was breathtaking, particularly when hang gliders swoosh right past your hotel window at sunset.

Downtown was even more interesting with Spanish inspired churches and buildings surrounding lovely plazas where locals congregate during Sundays.

To top it all, there is a "Park of Love" modelled after Gaudi's Parc Guell in Barcelona. The lovers statue is quite breathtaking.

Yes, Lima has a lot to offer. The beach, ancient ruins, colonial sights and modern day adventures.

A must see in South America.

San Francisco Days

The city by the Bay.

Ah yes, who wouldn't want to leave their heart in San Francisco once they discover all the city has to offer. I had the pleasure of being in this city over the 4th of July weekend last year and I was once more captivated by the agreeable weather, the rich food and just pulse of the city! From morning breakfast at Embarcadero to clam chowder in sourdough lunches at Fisherman's Wharf to wine tasting in Napa Valley, the day never ends in San Francisco!

This visit is well worth the 6 hours and 20 minute flight from the East Coast. The visit deserves at least 5 days, if not a week or more. Yes, leave your heart in San Francisco.

Cruising the Mediterranean

Small-ship cruising is the best way to see the beautiful Mediterranean. The ports of call all lead to fascinating cities and quaint hilltop towns like Rome, Florence, Eze, St. Paul-de-Vence, Aix-en-Provence and Barcelona.

If one can afford the time and the price, this type of vacation is strongly recommended for both young and old!

I love Paris in the winter...!

So much has been said about the wonder of Paris in the springtime. Well, lo and behold, Paris is wonderful any season of the year, and winter is as great a time to visit this European gem as any other day of the year.

Explore Paris as a local by renting your own furnished apartment in neighborhoods where you can do your own shopping at Monoprix and the world's best croissants are but 3 blocks away in that boulangerie which opens at 5:00 am when jet-lagged tourists awake the first few days of their stay in Paris.

The winter skies may be grey at times, but the weather is generally cooperative, and it IS Paris, so what is there to complain about.

This is the life!

Quiet Cabo NOT at Spring Break

Travelers looking for peace and quiet in Mexico should check out Los Cabos at the end of the summer, when everything slows down and the tourists are all preparing to return to work.

The resorts in San Jose del Cabo are perfect for serene Labor Day getaways to envigorate oneself before days get shorter and autumn leaves herald the expected arrival of colder weather and winter.

A Jewel in the mid-Pacific (Where in the world is Guam?)

America's morning begins on an island in the mid-Pacific southwest of Hawaii and due north of Australia and New Guinea. The island of GUAM is a tropical paradise and a U.S.territory strategically situated in Micronesia north of the Equator between the Philippine Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Already discovered by the Japanese and the Koreans as a favored vacation destination for its warm climate, white sand beaches and world-class shopping, Guam should be on any traveler's list as he approaches the Orient from the Americas.
